Frequently Asked Questions at New Day
Why was New Day started? What is the church’s vision? New Day Christian Church was started in fall 2006 with the intention of reaching out to people who have given up on church but not on God. Our vision is to help people know, trust, and develop fully-devoted personal relationships with Jesus. New Day exists not only to help its own attenders grow, but also to bless and impact the surrounding community with God’s love.
Do I have to be a member of the church to attend New Day? No, you do not. You are welcome to attend as long as you’d like without formally becoming a member.
What does membership involve? Those who choose to become members of New Day don’t receive any special treatment or benefits. Rather, they make a commitment to become a contributing part of New Day. Members sign a covenant in which they agree to attend faithfully, give financially, protect the unity of the church, use their talents to serve at New Day, and share Jesus’ love with our community. They are also given the opportunity to vote and make decisions about the direction of the church.
How often does New Day have communion? What does it mean? On the night before He died, Jesus used bread and wine as symbols of His broken body and blood. He told His followers that they should continue to use these symbols to remember how He gave His life for them (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). Therefore, we regularly celebrate communion together about once every three months.

What’s baptism all about? Why does New Day baptize people? As you read the Bible, you’ll find that baptism was a practice of the church since its very beginning. People believed in Jesus, and then they were baptized as a sign of their faith in Him. Jesus Himself said that His followers should be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). At New Day, we try to follow the Bible’s directions as best as we can. So at least once a year, we provide an opportunity for people to be baptized as a public demonstration of their belief. This service is for people of all ages who have personally placed their faith in Christ. Click below to listen to a more in depth look at baptism at New Day. >br
What is “Child Dedication”? Why doesn’t New Day baptize babies?According to our understanding of the Bible, baptism is for those who have made a personal choice to believe and follow Jesus. Therefore, we wait to baptize a child until he or she is old enough to understand what it means to become a Christian and make that decision on his or her own. For parents who wish to do something special for their children, we do something called Child Dedication. During a dedication, parents acknowledge that their child is a gift from God and make a commitment to raise the child in a way that pleases Him. It is a time for parents to dedicate both themselves and their child to God, just as Mary and Joseph did with Jesus (Luke 2:21-24) and Hannah did with Samuel (1 Samuel 1:24-28). * For more information about Child Dedication, please call Pastor Aaron at 241-8130 or email him at aaron@newdaychristianchurch.org.

Why does New Day use upbeat music? We believe that all truth is God’s truth, regardless of what kind of “package” it comes in! In other words, it doesn’t matter if a song is rap, reggae, rock, mainstream pop or a traditional hymn, as long as the lyrics are true and pleasing to God. Therefore, New Day’s worship services will use any musical style that is enjoyable and meaningful to the people we hope to reach. Right now, the majority of our attenders seem to enjoy upbeat music, so that’s what we use. We’ll continue to adapt our musical style to fit the tastes of those we’re reaching, while never compromising our commitment to use lyrics that honor God. We use the same approach with other arts, like drama and videos. We’ll push the edge and use the current culture however we can to connect people to God, all while seeking to please Jesus and uphold biblical values.
Who makes decisions at New Day? New Day is led by a team of people called the Leadership Team. These leaders work with Pastor Aaron to oversee and make decisions regarding the direction of New Day. These decisions are then presented to the church at regular business meetings and, if necessary, voted on by the members. In addition to the Leadership Team, New Day has two other groups of leaders — Ministry Directors, who lead the various ministries of the church, and Small Group Leaders, who help promote spiritual growth and relationships through our small group Bible studies.
